Coursework Documentary idea

The Unsung Heroes

This is a series idea focusing on Olympic athletes who are not recognised for their achievements. Our focus will be on an Swimmer from Botswana who placed 62nd but is virtually unheard of compared to the swimmers who placed in the top 3 of their events.The documentary will use modes such as participatory, expository and observational.The series will also include other olympic athletes from other sports and their journey to London 2012.


  • Interviews of John and his Personal Trainer

  • Archive footage of John at Beijing and at local events in Botswana

  • Present day footage of his training for London 2012

  • Using the London stadiums being built as pillow shots.Transitions.

  • Voiceover

  • Introduction of Series

  • Credits - Use Olympic logo
  • Music - emphatic

Was Seven Days a Flop ? Why ?

The show was watched by 1.115 million viewers on Channel 4 and Channel 4+1, attracting a 6.6% audience share from 10pm. This was almost 50% down on Channel 4's average share in the slot over the past three months.

Second Week, According to digital spy it got under 1 million including +1.

Third Week, 646,000
